The Reaper’s Office
Animated Narrative
This is an expanded/abstract narrative to show my take on a daily routine for a grim reaper. It shows its daily process of going through the office and eventually picking up souls that have yet to be judged in the drop-off zone. Small props like the cart and the glass of whiskey used even before entering the office were used as highlight points to show the dread of having to be there. I wanted to give the character a world that they breathe and operate in, where it’s filled with crowded rooms, and hallways with drunk baristas as well as the history of past grim reapers.
Style Frames
While the world was important, the Grim Reaper was the story’s anchor. I explored the Reaper’s emotions, imagining the weight of eternally collecting souls. My goal was to evoke empathy and relatability, leading to a story where the burden of being the next Reaper fades, replaced by the cycle of boredom and the desire for change.
